Hey guys...

I just finished this illustration of Wonder Woman VS Storm for the charity auction, WONDER WOMAN DAY III. The auction is the brainchild of my good pal Andy Mangels. Andy states in his emails that's it's totally cool to draw WW with any other supporting Marvel or DC character, so naturally, I had to involve my favorite weather Goddess!

This year, on October 26, 2008, Wonder Woman Day III - again as a part of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month - will take place, at Excalibur Books in Portland, Oregon, and at Comic Fusion in Flemington, New Jersey!

There will be multiple Domestic Violence Shelters and Crisis Line charities benefiting from the events. Get more details and check out the other pieces for auction here!

Hello chickadees. Anti-Heroes #3 is at the printer's as we speak. In the meantime, I thought I'd show you all the other thing I've been juggling: a line of erotic gay greeting cards! The company that produces them contacted me a few weeks ago and although I was slightly overbooked, I took the job because-- hey, it's work. Us illustrators (or... part-time illustrator in my case) gotta take what we can get!

Rollover each card for the punchline that will be displayed on the inside. Note that I didn't come up with these gag lines-- just the characters and poses. I'll have more cumming in the future, but for now, feast on these hunks. Which one's the hottest?

Jedi Beauty - Shaak Ti

Hey Guys...

I whipped up this image of Shaak Ti in anticipation of seeing the new Star Wars "Clone Wars" feature -- which was a lot of fun, despite being Shaak Ti-less. Ah well, at least Ahsoka was cool, even in she is "Shaak Ti-lite". Maybe I'll have to draw her too at some point.

In any case, through his beautiful artwork, Mike has infected me with is love of flourishes. They seemed to work nicely with Shaak Ti here, and in tandem with the wood texturing, I think they make the piece look kinda neat!

Sorry for geeking out on you, but you know -- Star Wars is one of my weaknesses! LOL! And Shaak Ti, though she's had very little screen time, is one of my fave Pop Culture Heroines! Hope ya like!

MAYA from SPACE:1999

There is one television program from my childhood that I still love as much now as I did then. In fact, I have watched and re-watched the series so many times on DVD, that I may well have burned a hole through some of the discs! LOL! I am of course talking about SPACE:1999. Many regard the program as a major cheese-fest, but I dare say that despite some of its flaws, it was WAY ahead of its time -- especially in its first season.

I drew this image of Maya, the shape shifting heroine from the Space: 1999's second season a little while back, in the same style as my Star Wars heroes. So it's a quick, rough pencil sketch which I cleaned up in Photoshop and then treated to minimal color.

Maya remains one of my all-time favorite Science Fiction heroines . I am posting her this morning because Eric Mars requested her specifically. He is also a huge Space: 1999 fan too, and I say, we Alphans have to stick together! LOL!

Eric, this one is for you, my friend! Hope you all enjoy her!

This image is my homage to V'Riel, one of Sean's main characters! This character has always struck me as being quite beautiful, and I love his red and blue eyes. He was a great deal of fun to draw and I hope you all enjoy him!

Michael Turner (1971 - 2008)

Hey everybody,

I have been hard at work on some new projects, but I just had to take the time out to speak on a tragedy I heard about moments ago.

Michael Turner, co-creator of Witchblade, creator of Fathom, and known for his work on various Top Cow, Marvel, DC projects, has passed away yesterday, on Friday, June 27th, at 10:42 Pacific Daylight Time, at the Santa Monica Hospital in California, after a long bout with cancer.

I would like to share some of my personal experiences with this great man. When I started my career, I was blessed with the opportunity to work with many big-name artists of the comic book industry, and one of them was none other than Michael Turner. Even though he had long been a big-shot in the business, and I was just an intern starting out, he was nothing but incredibly nice and respectful toward me. I remember the first time I met the man, I was getting a tour of the Top Cow offices, and he was sitting there, working away at his desk. I was of course star struck (being the big dork that I am) and the next thing I know, he stood up from his chair and shook my hand!

Some other experiences that come to mind include: Weeks later, I was having lunch by myself in the conference room at Top Cow, when Michael Turner walked right in and joined me! I was so nervous, but we got to talking. We even flipped through each other's sketchbooks! Months later at the San Diego Comic Con (after he started working on his Aspen series), I had arrived at the venue early with my team, and as I was helping to set up for the show (bagging comics for sale, and what not) I was lost in my own thoughts when suddenly I hear, "Hi Tom!", I look up and it's none other than Michael Turner! (Mind you, even at this point I had only had a handful of conversations with this superstar penciler, but... he remembered my name! It was a big moment for me) I barely managed to say a "H-Hello!!", we chatted for a bit and there was a great big smile on my face for the rest of the day!

Michael Turner is one of my idols and inspirations. I never thought that I would lose such a personal hero so soon in life. I was so lucky to have known him, and I feel a great sadness that no one else will have the honor to experience his kindness again first hand. My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.

A panel from a page I'm working on for "Unpacking", my graphic novel in progress at www.adultwebcomics.com/comics/macisaac.php. In the final version of this panel there's another figure on the left, and word balloons running along the top of the panel, so it looks much more crowded. I like the sparseness of this as is, so I'm putting it up, even though the composition as it exists here doesn't work on the final page.

One of the thing I like about working digitally is that it's possible to "remix" work. So even if the final is going to look different, the different stages in the process can still exist separately and have integrity as images, even if they're different in tone and effect than the final result.

Hard to Swallow #4 back cover

For those who don't know, Justin and I take turns with the front and back covers... with #4 Justin is doing the front, so I am doing the back. I just finished this one, and I love it. I've had this page from a small newspaper with kids portraying different emotions in a grid, kind of a guide to what feelings look like. I've had it on my fridge for years, always wanting to do something with it someday. The current Feral story has the biggest cast I've worked with so far, so it seemed like a perfect situation to use this layout for a cover. I tried to switch the emotions up with characters that wouldn't normally be seen with that particular expression on his face...

This is a draw i did for a local newspaper months ago. Its not new but i remembered it yesterday and decided to share with you.
Its looks so twilight!. This two guys wear the regional costumes of my province, Asturias, in the north coast of Spain.
Asturias is famous for his brave and cold seas, cloudy weather, tall mountains, green forrests, celtic history and of course....cider!!!(drunks in all Spain use to sing our hymn)
People use to say that the north culture of spain its more similar to scottish than to the rest of Spain, better known by the rest of the world.

Advice/open question

Hey guys, I have a question for you all. I have an offer from a local gay publisher and distributer that is wanting to get into publishing comic books, and want to publish my stuff. I would have full rights to the stuff, and creative control, essentially just hand the finished book off to them and they would print and distribute the thing. Now here is the unknown part; they don't know what a proper royalty would be. They currently give book authors 10% of their take (which ends up being 4 or 5% of the total sale price). They admit that comic books may be a higher percent. I have no idea. What is a good, proper, and or common % to ask for/expect?
Anyone here have experience or input?

Gay tales its a comic collection of revised classic tales, edited by David Cantero. Inside of it you can enjoy the art of some spanish artist like David cantero, Ismael Álvarez (you shaw his fanatastic Blancaleches in this blog), Hokane, Sébas Martín and more.

When David offered me the optión of beeing on the project i couldnt say no. My surprise came when i had to choose a Classic Tale to revise. Ten tales where chosen but...NO ONE CHOSE THE LITTLE MERMAID. So i did it ;).

That tale was always my favorite (disney´s best), because it talks about what means being different and being proud of it. When you dont fit, and you dont whan to. People who wants to be more than they are supose to be (dont know if its clear or i´m destroying your language LOL).

When i was thinking about the script i thougt that i could go far and talk about intolerance between gay people, so i changed the classic history and characters to talk about this. In my story all tritons are bear look gays and they hate everything that is femenine...like mermaids, or non extreme masculine tritons (like the redheaded prince). Of course they hate humans too (like in original version).
I included a different sea witch, an exiled mermaid, that basicaly altered the end of the story. Mi Friend Roberta Marrero (spanish singer-actress) was selected to do this cameo. The human prince is in this case a lifeward. Chek it Raul!!!
As always...everytime i do gay comic i use to forget to draw some sex (only 8 pages for the complete tale) .

Okay, so here's my LAST Street Fighter fan-art. You guys know I likes my divas. Originally, I had Rose simply posing in front of the body but someone suggested playing up the red pumps (which have so much connotation, I couldn't let them go to waste.) And yeah, it's Alex all dead-ish here because I hate that character. He's nothin' but an unused sketch of Ken. Blegh. I enjoy nothing more in 3rd Strike than beating the crap outta him.

Hello all! Thanks to Patrick for the invite to contribute to this blog... It's great to have a space for gay erotic comics artists to share work and ideas... very inspiring, especially as I have so much respect for so many of you here.

This page is from a piece I did for the new, soon-to-be-released Boy Trouble book... I'm doing a nastier, longer version for the next Hard To Swallow, the porn comic I make with Dave Davenport. The story is a true tale of a friend who was a fetish escort in NYC... His client wanted to watch Batman and Robin fuck, and so hired my friend and his boyfriend to dress up and act out the scene for him. Funny and hot at the same time :)

The Women of Marvel Series 2 - She-Hulk and Storm

Hey gang!

I’ve decided to start drawing my Women of Marvel, series 2. I guess after drawing Storm in her punk phase, I realized that I had a good start to the new series. I don’t know how many of my fave Marvel Comics heroines I’ll include in this series, but I do know that they will all be solo “pin-up” style, as opposed to my original series, in which every heroine was drawn separately to later become part of a larger illustration.

I’ve also decided to team up with Hernán on all of these new images. I draw, he colors!

So without further delay, I give you the Sensational She-Hulk. I’ve always been a fan of Shulkie, but recently I’ve really gotten into her own new solo title. It’s hilarious! So I guess you could say that’s where I got the inspiration to do this one.

I hate it when artists draw her like a waif. She’s a female HUL

K for God’s sake. She should at least have a few muscles. So my She-Hulk is a bit beefier – more like a female body builder than a runway model.

I hope you will enjoy her. Dunno who my next Woman of Marvel will be (when next I have a free moment, I suppose), but I hope to post her soon!

Boy of Mars

Just wanted to post a collection of basic guy drawings by way of introduction as Eric Mars. These were mostly done last year, and haven't really been used for anything...yet. They're mostly just studies. "The Outworlder" is a comic I'm working on now--although I've actually paused on it to meet a deadline for my furry comic "Rocketship Rodents".

Anyway, I'm hoping these boys...and MANY more...will be in my future! *EG*

In Memorium: Dave Stevens

Dave Stevens, died March 10th, an artist best known for creating "The Rocketeer" comic book, which reflected a fascination with Bettie Page that brought the 1950s pin-up queen renewed attention. He was 52.

Stevens, whose home was in North Hollywood, died in Turlock, California from complications related to treatment for leukemia.

Dave is a wonderful artist who will be missed.

Weightlifter

This is a drawing I did a few years ago, based a photo of a weightlifter - was never too happy with the way it turned out originally. I've been experimenting with the way I render color and light a bit recently., so I thought I might dig it out and play around with it. It's a bit more detailed and fussy than my drawings usually are -- not sure if that's a direction I want to go in, or if I should be pushing towards simplicity. But that's what sketching and drawing is great for. Always good to experiment with processes. Who knows, I might even start working with ink and paper again one of these days.

Here's what I will post first, this is the first page of the next FERAL installment due out in the fourth ish of Hard to Swallow comics. Steve, I was doing thumbnails for this while we were staying at Justin's. It was inspiring to see how dedicated you are to your work ;)

As one might tell from the splash, this story focuses on Doug, a.k.a. "Digit". Feral and the Ghost Skater play roles in it as well. It's looking to be my longest story so far, at least 30 pages.

Since i'm 12 (since i read comic books), I create each year my own super-heroes team. I never do much than drawing them in an imaginary cover, but it's something i like to do, like a ritual : so here they are in 2008 :

Hope you’re all having a great week. I want to share something very fun with you. Last year, I created a Camili-Cat dress up doll which my dear friend Dirk was kind enough to animate for me. Fraser and I have been meaning to post the interactive version of Cam and his wardrobe on my new website, but are saving it for the new adult section. Hopefully that will be done soon.

In the meantime, here is a look at Cam and a few of his various outfits! LOL! I still love him best when he’s au naturel, but you know! HA! HA! HA!
